Eligibility

To be considered for a ResSoc Bursary, applicants must be students living in residence.

At this time, applications submitted by students living off campus and Dons will not be considered.

Laundry Bursary

Students living in residence are eligible to apply for a Laundry Bursary once per semester, for a maximum of twice per academic year. Each Laundry Bursary is valued at $50, for a maximum of $100 per academic year. This bursary is not meant to pay for all laundry expenses – it is only meant to support students in covering part of their laundry expenses.

Academic Bursary 

Students living in residence are eligible to apply for an Academic Bursary once per semester, for a maximum of twice per academic year. Each Academic Bursary is valued at $100, for a maximum of $200 per academic year. This bursary is not meant to pay for all textbook expenses – it is only meant to support students in covering part of their textbook expenses.

Instructions for Student Bursary Applications (Laundry and Academic) 

  1. Complete the application form at https://www.ressoc.ca/financial-aid

  2. Email a receipt of laundry* or textbook purchases to finance@ressoc.queensu.ca. Please make sure that receipts are itemized and show the total value of the purchase. Please also ensure that the receipts only reflect the purchases that are being reimbursed (i.e. do not have any other purchases on the receipts).  

*For the laundry bursary “receipt”, please follow the steps here,

  1. Log into the Coinmatic app that you use to pay for laundry. Click on the three lines in the top left corner. Select “History”. 

  2. Select “Account Refill History”.

First-Year Experience Fund

The First-Year Experience Fund is a grant for first-year students or student groups aimed at or run by first-year students who are looking to run programming that directly benefits the first-year student population and require a financial boost to get their initiative off the ground.  

  • Laundry Bursary

    This bursary aims to assist students with paying for laundry in residence. This bursary is only available to students living in residence for the 2024-2025 academic year.

  • The First-Year Experience Fund

    This fund is available to all Queen’s University clubs and organizations looking to host programming that directly supports or benefits the university experience of first-year students.

  • Academic Bursary

    This bursary aims to assist students with paying for academic materials and textbooks. This bursary is only available to students living in residence for the 2024-2025 academic year.

  • Professional Attire Bursary

    This bursary aims to cover part of the costs related to professional attire. This busrary is available for students living in residence for the 2024-2025 academic year.

  • Residence Essentials Busrary

    This bursary aims to cover part of the cost of esstential items for residence life (e.g. bedding, toiletries, kitchenware, storage). This bursary is available for students living in residence for the 2024-2025 academic year.
